Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Matthew Goldwater and reappointed Samuel Brown and Dr. Hammad Qureshi to the Texas Board of Respiratory Care. Their terms will expire on February 1, 2031. The Board is responsible for advising the Texas Medical Board, setting rules for the certification and permitting of respiratory therapists, establishing minimum qualifications for practitioners, as well as standards of conduct and grounds for disciplinary action.
Matthew Goldwater, from Georgetown, works as a senior sales executive specializing in ventilation at Dräger. He is a member of the American Association for Respiratory Care and serves as an assistant coach with the Georgetown Youth Baseball Association. Goldwater holds a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy from Texas State University and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Tyler.
Samuel Brown, based in Marshall, is employed as an assistant IT manager and network administrator at Louis A. Williams & Associates. His previous roles include working as a computer lab technician at East Texas Baptist University (ETBU). Brown has also coached little league basketball with i20 Sports and both football and basketball with the Boys and Girls Club of America. He serves as an ordained minister and Teen Ministry teacher at Church On Purpose. Brown earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from ETBU and his Master of Science in Information Systems from Tarleton State University.
Dr. Hammad Qureshi, who resides in Tomball, is board-certified in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, and Internal Medicine. He participates in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Methodist Hospital The Woodlands through an academic appointment with Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Qureshi received his F.Sc. in Pre-Medicine from Government College University Lahore and his MBBS from King Edward Medical College before completing residency training at the University of West Virginia and a fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
