Governor Greg Abbott spoke at the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce “State of the State” luncheon, highlighting legislative accomplishments from the 89th Legislature. He addressed business leaders and local officials about Texas’ economic growth and ongoing efforts to support business development.
“Together, we are shaping the Texas economy as the best state for business development, job opportunities, and exports,” said Governor Abbott. “We will continue to remove the red tape and take strategic steps to remain the No. 1 state for doing business. Thank you to the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, small business owners, and the countless innovators who keep Texas tough and resilient.”
Attendees included Representative David Cook, Representative Pat Curry, Representative Angelia Orr, McLennan County Judge Scott Felton, McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara, Waco Mayor Jim Holmes, as well as other local and state officials.
Governor Abbott emphasized that Texas continues to pursue policies that encourage economic development across the state. He acknowledged Waco’s role in contributing to statewide economic momentum through initiatives led by its chamber of commerce.
He also reviewed actions taken during the recent legislative session. According to Governor Abbott, new laws have simplified regulations for businesses, lowered property taxes for residents and companies alike, strengthened infrastructure such as the electric grid, and expanded school choice options for families.
At the event’s conclusion, Governor Abbott reiterated his commitment to protecting children in Texas and stated he would move quickly on camp safety legislation.
