A prominent real estate agent in Austin, Michael Reisor, has left Douglas Elliman to join Compass Real Estate. Reisor previously managed the Eklund-Gomes Texas team and also works in New York. He leads the 14-member Reisor Team, which surpassed $100 million in sales volume during 2025.
Reisor cited Compass’s brand and its private exclusive listing feature as key reasons for the move. “Compass’s private exclusive network is very important in New York. In Austin, around half of what we do is off-market, so I think there’s a lot of demand for that in both places. But in Austin, there’s more resources for that,” Reisor said.
Austin’s real estate market has a strong off-market segment due to factors such as high property taxes, non-disclosure laws, and clients who value privacy. Local groups like the members-only Austin Luxury Network and startups such as Clubhouse help facilitate these transactions outside of the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
Reisor noted that New York lacks similar infrastructure for private deals, making it an opportunity for Compass to expand its presence there.
Compass’s approach to private listings has drawn attention nationwide. Its private listing tool has been controversial and was challenged by Zillow through a lawsuit. The National Association of Realtors’ Clear Cooperation Policy requires agents to list properties on MLS within one day of marketing them publicly. Zillow has enforced this rule by banning listings not submitted promptly.
The Reisor Team is among several Texas groups that have recently joined Compass. Last month, Houston-based The Property Collective Group moved from Keller Williams to Compass. Oak Cliff Real Estate also returned to Compass after a period with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate.
In contrast, Houston luxury agent Dana Johnson departed Compass for Douglas Elliman earlier this year.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Reisor joined Douglas Elliman in 2021 after working at Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty since 2018.
