A historic Texas ranch once homesteaded by a prominent Texas Ranger has changed hands. Bobby Patton, an oil and gas investor and part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, purchased the Two Rivers Ranch in Bosque County. The property was originally settled in 1851 by Buck Barry, who joined the Texas Rangers during Texas’ time as an independent republic and later served in the Confederacy during the Civil War. Barry lived on the land until his death in 1906 and is buried there.
The seller was Darren Blanton, a Republican donor known for supporting alternative video platform Rumble alongside Peter Thiel. While the final sale price was not disclosed, county records show that the ranch was listed for $21 million at the time of sale last month. The property covers more than 910 acres across several parcels.
Don Bell, listing agent with Icon Global, said that Chris Kyle—veteran and author of “American Sniper”—once competed in bronc riding at Tarleton State University in nearby Stephenville and spent time at the ranch. According to Bell, “full-service, world-class” roping facilities are among its features. The listing initially targeted members of the National Cutting Horse Association.
Residences on site include a main house with four bedrooms spanning 3,500 square feet, as well as additional living quarters totaling nearly 9,000 square feet overall. Other amenities include a manager’s house, stocked tanks, fenced pastures, a shooting range and a roping arena.
Patton is also recognized for owning Metallic Cat—a horse featured on an episode of “Yellowstone”—which he reportedly bought for $14 million after winning rights to have it appear on the show at a charity auction.
Bell himself has ties to “Yellowstone,” having joined Icon Global after brokering the sale of Four Sixes Ranch to Taylor Sheridan, creator of the television series.
The Two Rivers Ranch is located about ten minutes from Glen Rose and within driving distance from Dallas, Fort Worth and Waco.
“There’s excellent hunting on this property,” said Bell while referencing Barry’s memoirs about life on the ranch.
