The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended the registration period for Individual Assistance for Texans affected by flooding over the Fourth of July weekend. This extension, announced by Governor Greg Abbott, gives residents in qualifying counties until September 28 to submit claims and report damages.
“Texas continues to rebuild and recover in the communities impacted by catastrophic floods over the Fourth of July weekend,” said Governor Abbott. “Together, with our federal partners, we will ensure that all Texans who qualify for financial assistance have ample time to apply. I thank FEMA for extending the Individual Assistance registration period to September 28th for Texans who continue to heal from this devastating tragedy.”
Residents in Burnet, Guadalupe, Kerr, Kimble, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis, and Williamson counties may be eligible for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program. This program provides financial support for certain disaster-related expenses.
Applications can be submitted online at disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362. Disaster Recovery Centers are also available to help residents access services and information about applying for aid. Local officials have opened additional outreach centers with state, federal, and non-profit support.
Governor Abbott has outlined several ongoing actions to assist recovery efforts. These include presenting relief checks alongside the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund to families in the Hill Country and announcing more than $40 million in long-term flood relief funding with the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. The governor has also requested federal disaster assistance for Uvalde County and celebrated infrastructure repairs such as the reopening of Cow Creek Bridge.
Other measures involve expanding eligibility for SNAP replacement benefits and announcing new funding through programs like the Texas Micro-Business Disaster Recovery Loan Program. The state has updated its disaster declarations multiple times to include additional counties as needed.
Governor Abbott has visited affected areas alongside local officials and President Trump during recovery operations. The state launched resources such as an emotional support line specific to flooding events and deployed emergency response teams ahead of severe weather threats.
