Governor Greg Abbott has announced a new round of appointments to several state councils and task forces this week.
Lindsey Gohlke has been appointed, and Romey Swanson reappointed, to the Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council. Their terms will last until February 1, 2031. The council provides advice and assistance to the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program, helping with program administration and selecting grant recipients.
For the Governor’s Task Force on the Governance of Early Childhood Education and Care, Abbott named Peter J. Holt as chair. He also appointed Jeff Austin III, Leslie Callahan, Lori Gabbert Charney, Grant Coates, Reagan Curran, Tracy Hanson (Ed.D.), Marisela Nava, John “J.” Puckett, Jennifer Stockemer (Ph.D.), and Nancy Windham to serve terms ending September 1, 2027. According to the announcement: “The governor’s task force on the governance of early childhood education and care is established to address the governance and operational challenges of the early childhood education system in this state.”
Additionally, Scott Charbonneau was appointed to the Texas Interagency Council for the Homeless for a term that lasts at the Governor’s discretion. The council works to coordinate state resources and services aimed at addressing homelessness. As stated in the release: “The council coordinates state resources and services to address homelessness.”
