Governor Abbott appoints Barry Wallace as Upshur County Criminal District Attorney

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Barry Wallace as the new Upshur County Criminal District Attorney. The appointment will take effect on November 1, 2025, and Wallace will serve until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Barry Wallace currently serves as the first assistant in the Upshur County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. He is involved with several professional organizations including the State Bar of Texas, Texas District and County Attorneys Association, and the Northeast Texas Bar Association. Wallace is also active in his community through membership in St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Men’s Association.

Wallace has prior military experience, having received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from East Texas A&M University (formerly known as East Texas State University) and earned his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University.
