Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Katherine McDaniel to serve as judge of the 498th Judicial District Court in Kendall County. Her term will run until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Katherine McDaniel currently holds the position of first assistant district attorney for the Kendall County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. She also serves on the Texas Violent Gang Task Force by appointment of the Governor. In addition to her work with law enforcement, McDaniel is involved with several professional organizations including the Texas District and County Attorneys’ Association Journal Editorial Board, State Bar of Texas, Kendall County Bar Association, Texas Bar College, and the Texas Prosecutors’ Society.

Her community involvement includes being a steering committee member for the Kendall County Behavioral Health Advisory Coalition and serving as secretary of the board of directors for the Boerne Police Foundation. She also chairs sports banquets for the TMI School Community Engagement Council and has given presentations nationwide on search and seizure law.

McDaniel earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Texas at Austin and received her Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.
