Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Morgan Johnson to the Public Utility Commission (PUC) of Texas. Her term will last until September 1, 2031. The PUC is responsible for regulating the state’s electric, water, wastewater, and telecommunications utility industries. It also implements related legislation and helps customers resolve complaints.

Morgan Johnson is currently the deputy general counsel for the Office of the Governor. She previously worked as senior counsel to the executive director and commissioner at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Johnson was also an attorney at McGinnis Lochridge L.L.P. She is a member of both the State Bar of Texas and the Austin Bar Association. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law.
