Governor Greg Abbott has announced new leadership for the Budget and Policy staff within his office. The announcement details key appointments to roles that oversee budgetary planning and policy direction in Texas.

“These talented individuals have demonstrated their ability to deliver wins for the State of Texas,” said Governor Abbott. “Texans deserve leadership that will enhance their daily lives and safeguard the foundational truths that unite us as one. I have full faith that together, with this highly-skilled and qualified leadership team, Texas will remain the premier state for freedom and prosperity.”

Tabatha Vasquez has been named Senior Advisor to the Governor, leading both the Budget and Policy Teams. Vasquez previously served as Policy Director and Deputy Budget and Policy Director in the Governor’s Office. Her experience includes positions in both chambers of the Texas Legislature, as well as campaign management across various levels of government.

Cory Fish is now serving as Policy Director. Fish was formerly a Budget and Policy Advisor before being promoted to Deputy Policy Director. He brings experience from work at a think tank, trade association, and non-profit law firm.

Fisher Reynolds takes on the role of Budget Director after serving as Chief of Staff at the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and previously working as a Budget and Policy Advisor to Governor Abbott.

Danny Mittnacht is appointed Deputy Policy Director. Mittnacht’s background includes advisory roles during legislative sessions, campaign consulting, and previous service in several capacities within the Texas House.

Jimmy Anderson becomes Deputy Budget Director after working on tax and economic development issues in the Governor’s Office. His prior experience includes positions with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.

The Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott operates from its primary location in Austin at the State Insurance Building according to its official website. Since Greg Abbott’s election in 2014 he has led this executive branch agency that provides statewide services. The office has focused on areas such as job creation, economic opportunities, education enhancement, protection of individual liberties, parental empowerment in education, and border security according to official sources. Under Abbott’s leadership, initiatives like Operation Lone Star for border security have been advanced by his administration.

Abbott’s office has also contributed to Texas leading national rankings in job growth and employment levels as noted by state records. In 2024, Greg Abbott was listed among TIME’s 100 Most Influential People recognizing his impact.
