Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Chris Moose and reappointed Jamie Becker, Ph.D., and Sangeeta Singg, Ph.D., to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. Their terms will expire on October 31, 2031.
Chris Moose, based in Austin, is vice president of life sciences at Wheel. His previous roles include partner in healthcare and life sciences at IBM and consultant at Price Waterhouse Coopers. He has served as board chairman for Any Baby Can and was a board member of the Austin Healthcare Council. Moose earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Georgia.
Jamie Becker, Ph.D., from Lewisville, is director of Psychiatry at Children’s Health Children’s Medical Center and Clinical Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is board certified in child and adolescent psychology with responsibilities that include emergency crisis mental health services, consultation/liaison psychiatry and psychology, as well as play therapy services at Children’s Health. She holds memberships in several professional organizations such as the Society of Pediatric Psychology, Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, Texas Psychological Association, Dallas Psychological Association, and the Children’s Hospital Association. Becker completed her undergraduate studies at The George Washington University before earning her graduate degrees from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Sangeeta Singg, Ph.D., who lives in San Angelo, is a professor of psychology at Angelo State University (ASU) where she directed the Graduate Counseling Psychology Program for nearly thirty years. Her honors include the ASU President’s Award for Excellence in Leadership and Service; Gary and Pat Rodgers Distinguished Faculty Award; ASU Alumni Association’s Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award; Three Rivers Counseling Association’s Jimmy Alvarez Outstanding Contribution to the Counseling Profession Award; Ten-Year Meritorious Service Award; and Outstanding Leadership in Psychology Award from the Psychological Association of Greater West Texas. Singg has volunteered with organizations such as the American Heart Association Tom Green County chapter, MHMR Concho Valley, and Mosaic. She holds degrees from Punjab University (BA), Mississippi State University (MA), and Texas A&M University – Commerce (MS & PhD).
The appointments are part of Governor Abbott’s leadership within state government efforts that address professional licensing boards across Texas (official website).
