Governor Greg Abbott met with four U.S. Ambassadors at the Governor’s Mansion to discuss security, industry, and energy initiatives. The meeting included U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker, U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Joseph Popolo, U.S. Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose, and U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic Nicholas Merrick.
During their discussion, Governor Abbott outlined Texas’ investments in advanced manufacturing capabilities and highlighted its leadership in artificial intelligence, defense innovation, semiconductor capacity, and the global aerospace and aviation sector. “Ambassador Whitaker thanked Governor Abbott for his work to ensure the United States and its allies stand strong against bad actors.” Both parties stressed the importance of maintaining partnerships between Texas and allied countries to bolster national security.
The group also addressed Texas’ energy landscape, noting that an all-of-the-above approach has strengthened it further. “Governor Abbott also discussed the state’s efforts to lead the nuclear renaissance and highlighted the creation of the Texas Advanced Nuclear Energy Office and the Texas Advanced Nuclear Development Fund to incentivize the development of nuclear energy in Texas.” The ambassadors agreed on how vital robust energy generation is for powering industries such as defense manufacturing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and semiconductors.
The ambassadors’ visit was part of a two-day tour across Texas where they engaged with major manufacturers in several cities.

Under his administration since 2014, Texas has led job growth nationally with record employment levels by fostering innovation. The governor’s office operates from Austin at the State Insurance Building as part of the executive branch, advancing job creation, economic opportunities, protection of individual liberties, parental empowerment in education, southern border security measures like Operation Lone Star, child sex trafficking prevention programs, collaboration with businesses on economic expansion projects such as those involving Southwest Airlines, and tourism certifications through Travel Texas.
