Governor Greg Abbott spoke at the Dallas Police Department’s Assist the Officer Foundation’s 32nd annual Cops’ Cop banquet, where he received the “Back the Blue” Award. The event took place last night and was led by CBS11 news reporter Amelia Mugavero.
During his speech, Governor Abbott addressed law enforcement officers and emphasized the importance of their role in public safety. “States and communities need law enforcement and leaders who are committed to the cause of public safety,” said Governor Abbott. “You represent the very best of our great state, and Texas is better today because of what you do every day. I just want you to know you have a governor who has your back, and together, we will keep Texas safe and secure.”
The Governor was joined by Assist the Officer Foundation Chairman and Dallas Police Department Sergeant Ed Lujan, Dallas Police Officer James Parnell, as well as other law enforcement leaders. He expressed gratitude for police officers’ dedication to protecting citizens and maintaining the rule of law.
Governor Abbott also mentioned recent legislative efforts, highlighting new bail reform laws designed to prevent repeat offenses by violent criminals. He stated that these measures are intended to remove violent offenders from communities.
After delivering his remarks, Governor Abbott was presented with the “Back the Blue” Award in recognition of his support for the Dallas Police Department.
According to information from the official website, Governor Abbott leads Texas’s executive office with priorities including economic development, education improvement, border security initiatives, job growth support, and fostering innovation throughout the state.
