The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is calling on the U.S. Senate to pass the Protect America’s Workforce Act (H.R. 2550), which aims to restore collective bargaining rights for federal employees.

The union’s appeal follows an executive order issued by President Donald Trump on March 27, which ended collective bargaining for federal unions. IAM International President Brian Bryant sent letters to both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate urging support for the legislation.

“This bill has already been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Reps. Jared Golden (D-ME) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and has strong bipartisan support,” stated IAM leadership.

IAM Union says it strongly supports the Protect America’s Workforce Act, describing it as vital for restoring collective bargaining rights to federal workers nationwide.

“Federal workers are essential, and they’re committed to serving the American people. These workers deserve the right of collective bargaining, which provides protections in the workplace and better service to the public, just to name a few benefits,” according to IAM Union representatives.

IAM represents thousands of federal employees through its affiliate, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM), which includes about 110,000 federal workers across the United States.
