Nature’s Treasures, a long-standing Austin business known for its unique selection of crystals and natural products, has completed its relocation to a new campus at 11055 N IH-35. The move marks the store’s 25th anniversary and follows significant changes in Central Texas, including infrastructure developments that required the acquisition of its previous site.
Founded by Karen Richards, Nature’s Treasures began as a small shop on East 5th Street and expanded to three locations by 2005 before consolidating into a single large venue in 2011. In response to the IH-35 Capital Express project, which necessitated the sale of their Rock Depot and Yard site in Fall 2023, Nature’s Treasures worked with state officials on property negotiations and planned their transition.
The phased relocation started in 2024 with the Event Center moving first, followed by construction of a new 23,500 square foot warehouse for retail operations. The grand reopening took place on August 8 after two years of planning and building. City officials declared this date “Nature’s Treasures Day” during an event held in collaboration with the Austin Chamber of Commerce.
Richards emphasized her vision for connecting people with nature through both products and community engagement. “Karen Richards has always believed that nature has the power to revitalize the body, mind and spirit, and has made it her life’s work to share that opportunity with the community. As technology evolves and surrounds us, Richards believes it is now more important than ever to reconnect people with the natural world, be it a memento of nature’s beauty worn as natural textiles or jewelry, placed on the patio or in the garden with plants nestled among rough rocks, or at home—or in the office—as peaceful natural décor. The growth and energetic spirit of Austin, and the timeless wonders of the universe, sit side by side at Nature’s Treasures, ready to embrace the future.”
The company has upgraded lighting fixtures to LEDs and restored native landscaping at its new location. It also plans to use local energy and water programs for sustainable operations.
The Austin Chamber of Commerce played a role in supporting this transition through partnership efforts aimed at regional economic growth. The organization helps businesses thrive by organizing events focused on innovation and fostering partnerships within Austin’s business community (https://limpar.locallabs.com/organizations/c587ea13-249c-4ff6-a49d-231cb5297a84). According to its official website (https://www.austinchamber.com/), it promotes inclusive growth across neighborhoods while advocating for collaborative economic development.
