A mansion in Dallas’ Preston Hollow neighborhood, once owned by oil executive Cary Maguire, has been listed for $28.5 million. The 21,000-square-foot Neo-Georgian home at 4606 Park Lane was built in 1985 for Maguire, who founded Maguire Oil Company and Maguire Energy Company and was a noted philanthropist at Southern Methodist University. Architect Jack Hemphill designed the residence, which sits on a 3.2-acre lot.
At $1,362 per square foot, the property ranks among the highest-priced homes currently for sale within Dallas city limits. Only the Crespi Estate is listed higher, with an asking price of $64 million.
Ownership records show that the Four Thousand Trust acquired the estate in 2022 after Maguire’s death. Since then, millions have been spent renovating the home to update it for modern living needs. The current owners decided to sell following a job relocation.
“The whole home has been completely redone,” said Compass broker Faisal Halum, who is handling the listing.
The house features a great hall spanning the first floor with refinished parquet floors and custom fixtures. Other amenities include a two-story den with a 23-foot ceiling, glass conservatory, Art Deco bar, barrel-vaulted banquet hall, black-lacquered lounge, wine room and primary suite with a sculptural brass tub.
Over its history, the estate has hosted figures such as both Bush presidents, Gerald Ford and Margaret Thatcher; Czech President Vaclav Klaus; and Cowboys legend Roger Staubach. Maguire’s collection of presidential memorabilia—including Benjamin Harrison’s White House china and busts of every U.S. president—was previously housed there.
Halum described it as “a rare chance to secure land and legacy in one of Dallas’ most exclusive enclaves,” noting that opportunities to acquire significant acreage in Preston Hollow are scarce.
