Runoff election scheduled for Texas Senate District 9 seat on January 31

Governor Greg Abbott has set Saturday, January 31, 2026 as the date for the runoff election to fill the Texas Senate District 9 seat. The seat was previously held by former Senator Kelly Hancock. Early voting for this runoff will start on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

In his official statement, Governor Abbott announced: “Saturday, January 31, 2026 as the runoff election date for the Texas Senate District 9 seat vacated by former Senator Kelly Hancock.”
