Texas Mutual Insurance Company, a major provider of workers’ compensation insurance in Texas, recently concluded its annual Month of Giving. This event, now in its fifth year and held in partnership with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), saw employees volunteer across four cities: Austin, Houston, Dallas, and Lubbock.

In total, 389 Texas Mutual employees contributed 1,347 volunteer hours to support 47 local organizations. Activities included preparing meals for families at Ronald McDonald House locations, working at food pantries such as El Buen Samaritano and Central Texas Food Bank in Austin, and helping children with homework at Foundation Communities.

Austin-based volunteers participated in projects like gardening and landscaping at Mobile Loaves & Fishes’ Community First! Village. They also prepared lunches for Caritas of Austin and organized thank-you gifts for Texas Search and Rescue staff who assisted during recent flooding events. Other efforts included hosting appreciation events for teachers at Wayside Schools and supporting Saint Louise House’s Trunk or Treat.

In Houston, employees served lunch to families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston. They packed healthy lunches for Kids’ Meals and prepared meals for the Houston Food Bank’s Kids’ Café program. Volunteers also assembled hygiene kits for Project C.U.R.E., benefiting children in under-resourced areas.

Dallas activities involved preparing dinners at Ronald McDonald House of Dallas and organizing a family volunteer event that benefited several organizations including Catch Up & Read and the Humane Society of North Texas. Employees also spent time with adults at My Possibilities by participating in classes and shared information about Texas Mutual.

Lubbock volunteers hosted a Make-A-Wish celebration for a young child’s trip to Walt Disney World. They supported veterans through the Texas South Plains Honor Flight luncheon and engaged in community service projects such as making bookmarks with encouraging messages. Additional efforts included helping care for animals at Morris Safe House, packing food boxes at South Plains Food Bank, preparing dinner at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest, and assisting with a science carnival organized by Science Spectrum.

A spokesperson from Texas Mutual stated: “It’s because of our employees and amazing community partners across the state that we’re able to build a stronger, safer and brighter future for our neighbors. During our Month of Giving and throughout the year, we’re grateful for our employees’ volunteer spirit and all our partners who share in our mission.”

The company emphasized its ongoing commitment to strengthening communities through employee engagement initiatives like these.
